Monthly Mood Board 003
Hopeful for brighter, sunnier, and warmer days.
Fruity Booty is my new obsession, and I will not be taking questions at this time!! I will admit it freely: I used to dread shopping for lingerie. But in this new wave of brands surging to the surface, something has shifted — and I have found myself increasingly drawn to funky, playful pieces that double as accessories in their own right. A cheetah bra peeking out in the summertime? Je m’en fous. I think it is, frankly, quite charming. Fruity Booty caught my attention first by name alone, which already made me giggle, which is honestly all it takes. But what kept me there is the brand’s entire ethos: lingerie that simply refuses to take itself too seriously. Let’s have fun with this, it says — and then it has perhaps a little too much fun, which I mean as the highest possible compliment. In the lingerie department, this cheetah bra and briefs set has been on my wishlist since the moment I laid eyes on it — restocking cannot come soon enough. This cheeky bra and brief set is equally irresistible and feels tailor-made for summer. And beyond lingerie, their take on the double-layered shirt deserves its own moment — this one in particular is so adorable I had to include it.
Remember this old article here where Hanna and I gave our tips on how to elevate your fashion girlie world/ecosystem/life? Well, packing has just gotten considerably more cutesie — and the culprit is Heimat Atlantica. This brand is simply adorable, and I mean that in the most elevated sense of the word. From perfect summer accessories like shell earrings and necklaces, to raffia bags that make the ideal gift for your friend with a summer birthday — our Cancer, Leo, and even Virgo friends will find something here that feels entirely made for them. It is that kind of brand. Now, buying several pieces at once may not be the most practical decision — but as a gift? Unbeatable. These packing bags in particular are a thoughtful, chic way for your loved ones to store special items while traveling; scarves, gloves, silk tops, the things that deserve a little extra care. This one here feels like one of the perfect finds for that specific friend in your life — you know the one. She follows Vic Montanari, Barbara Santiago, and all the Portuguese girlies. She has a linen set for every occasion and considers packing an art form. She will thank you, and you will wink at me!
International It Girls 5ever. We are going to say something that may ruffle a few feathers, and we are entirely at peace with that: if your style icon is CBK, we are not sure we can help you. And we mean that with the gentlest possible love. There is something so distinctly West Village white American girl from Connecticut about that choice — and we say Connecticut very specifically, and very deliberately. Now, Jane Birkin, we understand. Jane Birkin, we respect. The world has made its case, and the case holds. Duh, icon daughters Lou Dillon and my ultimate DIVA CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG? Idol. But can someone please explain to us why, in the United States, the conversation begins and ends there? Where is the Brigitte Bardot discourse? Our French diva who wanted to be Brazilian, who tied a foulard better than anyone who has ever lived, who was simultaneously the most desired woman in the world and deeply unbothered by it? And while we are at it, why are you not obsessed with Catherine Deneuve? With Sophia Loren? With Françoise Hardy? With Marisa Berenson, who existed at the intersection of art, fashion, and Old Hollywood glamour as if it were simply her birthright? With Gogoosh, one of the most iconic women to have ever graced a stage? With Ofra Haza, whose voice could rearrange something inside of you? The international divas are right there. They have always been right there. CBK had a certain charm, and we will absolutely let her soul rest in peace — but let us be honest with ourselves: the appeal was, in large part, that everything looked good because everything was, well, relatively simple. There is a difference between effortless and iconography. We are simply asking you to know the difference — and to broaden the vision board accordingly…Now, please, you can go search everyone's name :) Expand your references, broaden your worldview. Enough thinking that everything only exists in the US.
